Registration for Drumochter Drop IV - Sunday 21st August 2022

Registration for ByCycle’s spectacular Special Ride from Dalwhinnie to Perth is now open.  Places are limited so please register as soon as you can to avoid missing out.  It only costs £25 per person and that helps cover the cost of transporting you and your bike to Dalwhinnie and the post-ride celebrations.

Before you register, please make sure you are aware of all the details of the ride and the safety advice that follows.  Registration is only available through Fabian4.

The Route Description, Maps and Check-in Details

• One-way 60 mile route starting at Dalwhinnie and finishing in Perth
• More than 1000 feet descent than ascent.
• Riders and their bikes transported to the start
• Ride at your own pace with friends

• Celebrate the end of your ride with hot drinks and cakes at Bell’s Sports Centre

RIDERS TAKE PART AT THEIR OWN RISK AND SHOULD FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE ROAD
AT ALL TIMES.
COVID ADVICE AT THE TIME OF THE RIDE SHOULD BE FOLLOWED.
BIKES SHOULD BE IN GOOD MECHANICAL REPAIR.
RIDERS SHOULD CARRY SPARE TUBE(S) AND A PUMP.
HELMETS STRONGLY ADVISED.
ELECTRIC BIKES SHOULD START OFF FULLY CHARGED.

A.  The Route and Signage

The route follows NCN7 from Dalwhinnie via Pitlochry to Logierait.  At Logierait, cross the community bridge and pick up NCN77 via Dunkeld to Bankfoot.  Riders should accustom themselves to following the blue National Cycle Route signs.

Also be aware that part of NCN 7 from Bruar to Pitlochry no longer fits the Sustrans definition of “Quiet Roads”.   However, the route is still signed with the small “Lochs and Glens Route” logo.

Pick up ByCycle signage from the south end of Bankfoot.  There will be no marshals.

C.  Check-in, Departure and Check-out

Check-in opens in Perth’s South Inch car park between 08:00 and 08:45.   Obtain a free ticket at the barrier to be used on exit.  Public toilets will be open, charge 50p.

Riders should report and obtain a card with SAFETY TELEPHONE numbers.  Load your bikes with Abbey Removals and take your seat on one of the buses.
At Dalwhinnie the Snack Shack are expecting us.  Do make use of the café and toilets before departure.

Check-out will be at Bell’s Sports Centre in the North Inch.  Check-out will be open from 14:00 to 18:00 [max].
